About Lisa
Lisa Sugar is an inspirational Canadian singer-songwriter/author who burst into the music scene in 2019 with her debut EP “Sweet Reflections.” Her captivating single, “The Purple Bird” was released roughly a year later on February 14th, 2020. It served as the inspiration for her first heartwarming children’s book, The Purple Bird’s Enchanting Tale. Her creative children’s book series continues with the upcoming release of the book Katie Love’s Enchanting Tale, based on her charming song “Katie Love,” promising to captivate young readers.
Ever since her debut album, she has been enthusiastically working and releasing new songs. Lisa’s most recent song “Under the Tree” is the first song to have an official music video. This song is a profound reflection of “what is love and what does it mean?” This is one of many questions Lisa poses in this catchy and memorable song. Her deeply emotional songs describe relationships, real life events and situations that everyone can relate to.
My passion in life is to enlighten others with heartfelt messages through my music and literary works. The song “Katie Love” describes my relationship with my precious rescue dog and best friend, Katie. This song is so close to my heart as it describes the deep bond that I share with her. I wrote the song “Katie Love” to help raise awareness about dog rescue and to communicate through music the joy, peace and serenity that comes from dogs finding their forever homes. A significant portion of all my songs and books will be donated to SaveMeDogRescue.ca.
Music has always been a treasured part of my life and has always inspired me in so many different ways. My hope is that my audience will connect with my creations in their own unique and personal ways.

A Worthy Cause
Lisa Sugar wrote and recorded a song about a precious dog named Katie. This young dog was found homeless on the streets, emaciated, starving and placed in a high-kill shelter. Katie was saved by a rescue organization and Lisa adopted her through them. She describes Katie as a gentle, loving soul who changed her life.
After Lisa adopted Katie, she decided to volunteer with Save Me Dog Rescue because she was so grateful to have her in her life and wanted to give back to the rescue community. Her volunteer experience includes musical charity events to raise money for the rescue. Her passion for music led her to write a song about her special bond with Katie.
Her mission for the song, “Katie Love,” is to raise awareness for rescue dogs and to communicate through music the joy and peace that comes from dogs finding their forever homes. She is hoping that her song will inspire others to consider adoption instead of shopping for a dog. “Everyone thinks I rescued Katie, but she rescued me.”

Save Me Dog Rescue is a registered charity that is dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned dogs from high-kill shelters. They are an all-breed rescue with a special affinity for dogs that have had a tougher time getting out of shelters. They work in conjunction with committed volunteers, foster homes and other professionals. This enables them to rescue many animals every year, providing them with loving temporary care and finding them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. At any given time, they may have a wide variety of dogs from puppies to super seniors.

Katie Love’s Enchanting Tale was inspired by the song Katie Love by Lisa Sugar, which is about Lisa’s adorable rescue dog Katie. This is Lisa’s second published book in her Enchanting Tales children’s series.
Lisa’s background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and years of providing vocational counselling services. As an avid volunteer, she performs for various charity events to raise awareness and funds for animal rescue and for vital causes such as serious medical conditions. She also entertains the elderly, including those with Alzheimer’s and disabilities.
Katie Love’s Enchanting Tale is unique, as children can look at the magnificent illustrations created by the imaginative Alice Dowling, while they delight in listening to the original score of the song Katie Love. As the delightful, charismatic and loving Katie goes through her journey, readers, young and old alike, will gain awareness and appreciation of the world of dog rescue.
Lisa is a mother of three wonderful kids and hangs out with her precious dog Katie. She wrote the song Katie Love to help raise awareness for rescue dogs and to communicate through music the joy and peace that come from dogs finding their forever homes.
